Course Description:  World History

 

In this class we will be studying World History from 1450 to the Present. Our class will concentrate on several themes of History that have had dramatic impacts on shaping our world today. By the end of this semester you should be able to recognize important historical patterns that are still at work in our world today. This is a single semester course, so the curriculum will move very quickly. We will also complete two significant projects, the topic of which you will get to select.

 

Thematic Units that we will be studying will include:

  1. Development and expansion of Islam 630 to 1450

  2. European Global Expansion 1450-1750

  3. Industrialization and Western Hegemony 1750-1914

  4. World International Conflicts (1870 to Present)

 

Graduation requirements satisfied with this course:

  1. Social Studies elective. Students need three Social Studies credits to graduate.

 

Sequence of Course:

  1. World History is typically taken during sophomore or freshmen year.
